MY STORY

My name is David, and a few years ago my life fell apart. What happened afterward though… changed everything.

I found myself going through a divorce. Simultaneously my once thriving business had taken a straight nosedive. Here I was at 38, starting over doing my best to keep it together for my kids, while quietly falling apart inside. Depression hit harder than expected, and I felt lost, overwhelmed, and honestly broken. Everything I had worked for suddenly went poof and my brain didn't understand what went wrong.

During that season, I felt something pulling me back toward God. I just kept having this nudge that that's where I would find answers. Every time I went to church I felt something… Love. A radical love unlike what I had felt before. It was like something inside was waking up and filling the hole inside again. I didn't understand it, but I knew it was what I needed.

I had this moment sometime around then where I realized I just couldn't do it on my own strength and willpower anymore. My way didn't work. I broke down and I turned it all over to him. Lord take over. I accepted Christ as my savior that day. I whole heartedly surrendered to Him.

Let me tell you… something amazing happened. He brought me up and put me back together again piece by piece. Jesus saved my life. Ever since that moment, I've had this incredible peace.

Life became a joy to live… even during the struggle of rebuilding what had fallen apart. He rebuilt my heart. He gave me a new strength, and a new way to see life. I’m grateful every single day for the hope I found in Him.

All those years of people telling me about it … that I had brushed aside, ignored and thought I could do it on my own. All that time filling the void with worldly things that didn't truly help or just left you empty. It was right there waiting for me all along.

I don’t know where you are spiritually — maybe faith is a big part of your life, or maybe it never has. But here’s what I do know for sure: God loves you. He wants you to know it, despite wherever you're at with him.

That’s why I’m writing. He radically changed my life. I believe He wants to do the same for you. No matter who you are or what you've done, He is seeking you. You are worthy, even if you don't think so right now. God isn't going to force you though. He gives you free will to choose him, but you've got to open yourself up to him.

Here’s the deal — I'd like to pray for you and wherever you are. If you want to know more about Him, I’m happy to share what I know and my experiences. I’m no pastor, and I’ve never been to seminary. There isn't some organization behind me or anything. I'm just a man with a passion for Christ, some crazy stories about how I found God and a heart for our community to find him too.
